Save The Earth on 28th January 2012
The Students and Faculty of GIM organized a Rally with the theme “SAVE THE EARTH” at the Race Course Road on 28th January 2012. The Rally was flagged off by Tmt. Hema Karunakaran, IPS, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Law and Order, Coimbatore, at 07:30 am.All the Students of the Institute, along with the Faculty and Management, participated in the Rally, highlighting the importance of maintaining healthy environment, Healthy Living, Pollution control, Waste Management, preventing actions contributing to global warming etc.,The entire students of the Institute learned much from the experience and pledged to work hard to Save the Earth for posterity.
South India Business plan contest on 27th January 2012
Ethnos the hr club of Guruvayurappan Institute of Management conducted the “South India Business plan contest” on 27th January 2012 in the campus.Dr. Verghese Mathew, Director of the Institute inaugurated the event.There were about 40 participants from 15 reputed B-Schools. The contest helped the students to explore their Entrepreneurial skills and their acumen to plan new ventures.The team from CIMAT College, Comprising of Mr.R.Prabhu Ram and Mr.S.Manivarnan won the first Prize.The team from SNMV Institute of Management , Comprising of Mr.S.Athul Kumar , Mr.C.Venkatesh and Mr.Jordan came the second.Dr. Thomas T. Thomas, principal of the institute felicitates the gathering. The faculty co-ordinators of the contest were Mrs. Suvitha and Ms. Viviliya Paulin.
The eleventh annual Alumni Convention, EX-US’12, was conducted on 22 January 2012 at the GIM Campus. The EX-US’12 was formally inaugurated by Dr. U. C. G. Namboothiri, Secretary, GIM. Mr. Deepak Ashok Kumar, President, VISION of 2010 Class, presided over the function. Dr. Verghese Mathew, Director, GIM, addressed the Alumni and the current students. Dr. Thomas T. Thomas, Principal, GIM and Mr. Nikesh Nair, Secretary, VISION 2012, felicitated the Alumni. Prof. N. R. Narayanan, Coordinator of EX-US’12 welcomed the gathering. Ms. Udhaya, Vice President, VISION proposed the vote of ThanksThis much awaited event with nostalgic overtone was attended by a large number of past students of GIM. They came from all parts of India and abroad to share their experiences of the corporate world with their juniors. It also offered an opportunity for them to catch up on the accomplishments of their friends and batch mates, after they had left the campus. The current students were seen to lap up all the adventures of the alumni and were exited to query them on how to go about preparing for getting placed and also how to conduct themselves once they are placed.Later the alumni, the Management, Faculty, Students and Staff sat down together for a sumptuous lunch and reflected on the shared golden moments of yesteryears.

ANNUAL ALUMNI CONVENTION – EX-US’12 on 22nd January 2012
The eleventh annual Alumni Convention, EX-US’12, was conducted on 22 January 2012 at the GIM Campus. The EX-US’12 was formally inaugurated by Dr. U. C. G. Namboothiri, Secretary, GIM. GRADUATION DAY on 22nd January 2012
Guruvayurappan Institute of Management conducted the Graduation Day for the 2008-’10 MBA Class at the GIM campus on Sunday, 22 January 2012. Padma Bhushan Emeritus Professor Dr. M. V. Pylee, former Vice Chancellor, Cochin University, was the Chief Guest and he presented the Degree Certificates to the Graduates of the 2008-’10 Batch in the presence of Dr. Verghese Mathew, Director GIM. The Graduation Ceremony started off with the Procession to the venue of the ceremony, in which the Graduates, Faculty, Management and Dignitaries were present.
In his Graduation Address, Dr. Pylee highlighted the importance of the MBA Degree which many today consider as a must acquire value addition to enhance a person’s employability. “The MBA Programme which has its roots from Joseph Wharton of the erstwhile Wharton School, took its current form when the Harvard Business School designed it afresh to help the Business enterprises with a structured approach to making decisions for managing resources and solving problems” he said in his Graduation Address.
Felicitations by Dr. U. C. G. Namboothiri, Secretary, GIM and also Dr. G. Ganesan, Bharathiar University Representative to the GIM Governing Council, followed. The Graduates were delighted and proud to come forward and receive their MBA Degrees, for which they had worked hard for two years at GIM.
Dr. Thomas T. Thomas, Principal, GIM, coordinated the proceedings of the Graduation Day, which was being organised at GIM for the first time. About fifty Graduates of the 2008-’10 MBA Batch were present to receive their Degree Certificates in person. The others, because of compulsions of employment in other parts of India and abroad, could not attend the Ceremony. The Ceremony concluded with the National Anthem and the Retreat of the Procession.
PONGAL CELEBERATIONS on 12th January 2012 The Students of Guruvayurappan Institute of Management celebrated the Pongal -the farmers festival, with all traditional gaiety and fun. Early morning before sunrise they prepared Pongal at the Campus and was ready to greet the Sun after the Pongal had over flowed. In the Afternoon, the Auditorium resonated with a series of traditional dance forms like Kummiyattam, Kolattam, Mayilattam and ooyilattam, folklore, Music and skits, highlighting the various facets of this very important celebration of Tamil Nadu.Dr. Verghese Mathew, Director, Guruvayurappan Institute of Management greeted the audience proclaiming “Pongalo Pongal” and wished them “Pongal Nalvathukkal”. The students had decorated the Campus, walkway and corridors in traditional style with Kolam and agricultural produces.After the Celebrations, Pongal, Sundal and Sugarcane was shared by the GIM family in the Campus. Free medical camp at Guruvayurappan Institute of Management on 08th January 2012
Guruvayurappan Institute of Management Navakkarai, Coimbatore, organized a one-day Free Medical Camp for the public in association with Abirami Hospital, Sundarapuram, Coimbatore and Ettimadai Panchayat on 8th January 2012 at GIM Premises. The Inaugural Function of the Camp was held at 9.00 amMs. C. Savithiri, President, Ettimadai Panchayat, inaugurated the Medical camp by lighting the Kuthuvilakku in the presence of Mr. K.M.Sankaranarayanan Namboothiri, Vice Chairman, SGECT and Dr. N. Maheswaran Bhattathiripad, Treasurer, SGECT. Mr. A. Shanmugan, Vice president, Ettimadai Panchayat addressed the gathering. Dr.Kunthavi Devi, Director & Consultant Gynecologist; Dr.R. Senthilkumar, General surgeon & Gastroenterologist; Dr. P. Balamurugan, Surgeon and Dr. P.Uma Devi, Obsteries & Gynecologist lead the Camp. Mr. K.Sasikumar, Deputy manager, Ms.Vairamani, Manager, provided the assitance.Dr. Verghese Mathew, Director GIM, presided over the function. Mr.C.Murugesan, Asst. Prof, GIM, welcomed the gathering. Mr. Jeganathan, Asst. Prof, GIM, proposed the Vote of thanks.A team of six doctors and 15 assistants from ABIRAMI HOSPITAL took care of the public. More than 500 people including children and senior citizens from in and around Navakkarai, and also students and Faculty Members, took part in the camp and were provided free consultancy and medicines. The students arranged transportation from the villages in all these panchayats. The camp focused on general medicines, Gynecology, Urologists, Gastroenterology, Ortho Pediatrics and Obstetrics.
Mercattus on 11 th October 2011A grand Food fest named ‘SERA FESTA’ was organized by the Marketing Club “Mercattus’ of GIM on 11th October 2011. The students of ‘Mercattus’, one of the five active clubs of the Institute, conducted this festival for the first time at the GIM Premises.The evening offered different combinations of Italian and Kerala Cuisines and the students participated in the same with enthusiasm. The entire process of preparing the food, promoting sales and Managing the food stalls were done by the student members of the Club. The surplus generated by the entire event has been handed over to the Management of the Institute as a contribution to a social cause. Prior to the fest, the Marketing Club was inaugurated by Dr. Verghese Mathew, Director, GIM
