Nature and extent of involment of faculties and students and academic affairs/improvements.

Apart from the day-to-day academic activities students engage in club-based activities under the active guidance of a faculty member. Clubs are formed based on their area of specialization. Paper presentations, seminars, workshops are the normal club activities. Faculty members act as mentor for a chosen group of students so that individual care is given to each and every student. Also faculty members are involved with conducting tutorials, project guidance, mock-interviews and personality developmentof the students.

We have made significant strides in placing our students in reputed organizations. GIM Diaspora comprising of its Alumni has already spread out in the corporate world in India and abroad. In the last two years, nearly eighty percentage of our students are placed by the placement cell with salaries ranging between Rs.15, 000 to Rs.30, 000/- per month.

Profile of the Direcor

Dr. Veghese Mahtew is at present the Director of Guruvayurappan Institute of Management, Navakkarai, Coimbatore. He is a Mechanical Engineering Graduate of Kerala University (1964) and later took his MBA and Ph.D in Management from Cochin University of Science and Technology, Cochin. He had advanced training in General Management for a period of 13 months in Germany during 1977 -1978. He is a well known Management Educationist, Consultant and Practitioner. His previous assignments include: Director - Administration, Madras Medical Mission, Chennai - 2002 - 2004 Chairman and Managing Director, Kerala State Industrial Enterprises Ltd, Trivandrum - 1996 - 2002. Professor, Centre for Management Development, Trivandrum - 1987 - 1996 Faculty - University of Nigeria, Department of Management - 1982 - 1986 Director and Chief Consultant, Kerala State Productivity Council, Kalamassery - 1970 - 1982 Consultant - Beacons Pvt Ltd, Mumbai - 1966 - 1970 He is very active in Professional organizations such as Management Associations and Indian Institution of Industrial Engineering. He was President of Trivandrum Management Association during 1997 - 1999. He was elected as Chairman of Kerala State Productivity Council in 1999. He was the National Chairman of Indian Institution of Industrial Engineering, Mumbai, during 2003-2004 and 2004-2005. Dr. Verghese Mathew has been conferred the " Outstanding Personality Award" by the Indian Medical Association, CMC Vellore branch in 2004 in recognition of meritorious services rendered by a non-medical person to the Medical profession and Community. He was also awarded the "Ramasamy Cup" by Indian Institution of Industrial Engineering, Mumbai for his outstanding contribution to industrial engineering profession and the Institution, also in 2004. He has widely travelled and visited countries such as Germany, England, Italy, Belgium, Denmark, Austria, The Netherlands, France, Switzerland, Egypt, UAE, Singapore and Malaysia.
